Abstract Geometries
In these small works I continue to explore the aethetics of fragmentation that started in Histórias de um Grande Amigo (2022). In addition to paper materials like washi tape and glitter paper, I have introduced emroidery as a textural element. I like to think of the embroidered layer as an additional composition that is literally stitched into the existing one. As in much of my work, I am always thinking about the tension between craft and fine art. By using craft materials and processes, I persist in bringing a fine arts sensibility the so-called feminine crafts. As a continuation of this tension, some pieces have a little easter egg: a dismembered excerpt from the diaries of Samuel Pepys.
